i had one on my old eg6, well sorta. my car was all about budget racing. sooo... i just took a hole saw to the back bumper haha. later i threw in some wire mesh painted white to somewhat mask the diffusor holes.
if your worried about asthetics you should just buy or make an underpan for the rear so no air gets trapped by the bumper.
here is a side pic of my old pic, you can see what i did with the rear bumper before i put in the mesh.

Pretty simple to make one out of aluminum sheet. Go to just about any local road race fab shop.
Also no where near $2000 for a basic one. If you looking to have the whole underside covered and rivited to the car, maybe.

i showed a picture, and he said thats what he wanted, the Carbon ones are very much in that price range, and since this seem like, for him at least, a bling part i don't htink he would want plain ol aluminum

Some name brand Japanese brand would ask 2k for an NSX all carbon.
Learn how to fiberglass and work your way to carbon... this little crap on the rear of the car is nothing close to 2k to make.
If your going through all the trouble to tack some little crap on the end of your car just to straighten and slow air down you might as well make the whole bottom flat.

Im pretty sure the SCCA viper has an all metal piece.
Pontiac incorporates some type of diffusor on the Vibe. I dunno if that's actually what is for but thats what it looks like

i drilled a bunch of 2 1/4'' holes in the bottom lip of my rear 90 hatch bumper.
i picked up an average of 3 mph, and dropped .15 second, about. (low 13/high 12 sec. car then.)
not super scientific, and traction launch is still tough for me, as is traction in 2nd and 3rd gear...but i'm working on that
