Default Push bar on the 97 Civic DX

Around 11:00 PM the night before thanksgiving a friend myself and a lady acquaintance were traveling onward to my place of rest. Where we had decided to cap our night of viewing "Let's Go To Prision," by watching yet two more movies rented from the local video store. When suddenly I veered off the road to dodge a puddle, that could of perhaps muddied my fenders, and quite possibly my new tires. Of course by doing so a bush and I became entangled into a tussle. The Bush decided he should be very rude and unkind to me, doing so by using his branches to pointedly take the outmost layer of paint off my front bumper. While I was trying to feveriously hide my embarrasment and shame from my friend and acquaintance with excuses. If that doesnt beat all, my car ended up with more mud on it than if I would of just went through the puddle. You see for two days before this travesty it had rained to the point of saturating the ground and turning oridnary grassy spot into mud pits. This all leading to one very concise conclusion, being that I was stuck in the accompaning mud that harbored this evil bush that so retchedly had taken my paint off.

The Bush's handy work, for your viewing pleasure.

Now that the prelude is set, one can begin to understand the following actions.

It was turkey day night. I was profoundly board with nothing to do, yes nothing. While sitting in my chair that I spend quite a bit of time, sitting in. I suddenly started to contemplate what had happen the previous night. With the embarrasment still heavily laying upon my shoulders, it became clear as to what I must do. Luckily, it just so happened that I had the means and the material to do what I must. I rushed outside to the garage to find all that I needed. Then called my friend that was with me the previous night, and disclosed my evil plan with him. He wanted in. We worked for hours slowly accomplishing what we knew we must. Then decided to call it a night.

Fear not though for this morning we finished our monstrousity. (I couldnt find the camera until tonight though and the paint was drying still)

Hopefully it is becoming quite clear to you what I must do to defend my honor. If not, then know this.. Tomorrow I shall revisit that bush that was so unkind, tomorrow I shall do unto that bush what it has done unto my car. It shall not be pretty. Be prepared; for tomorrow I will post grotesque images of what I have done upon that bush who has shamed me.

Made out of 1 1/4 inch .095 DOM with a crappy tubing bender that would be lucky to bend a stick.

brush guards = not getting out of your car to move shopping carts or small children in parking lots

my 4 runner has a brush guard, at the top bar there are two metal strips that attach the brush guard to behind the grill to give it more support up top. your design might benefit from such a brace. BTW love your story and fab work. Are there HID driving lights in your future?

My Dear Shawn,

Taking your frustrations out on the "offending" bush will not fix the error that created your animosity towards it, and your friends will not care either way. Please try very hard not to loose focus on your goal with this project.

Dave

did you get the license plate and insurance of the offending bush?

add lights and a winch and you have a normal civic in south texas, feel free to visit and stay a while, you can stay in my guest house behind my trailer.

p.s. that is some good ****, but were you drunk when you finished your fabrication?

AT LONG LAST REVENGE IS SERVED~!

Disclaimer: Warning all the following acts of violence were preformed by an untrained possibly immature person. Always uses safety devices such as a seat belt and helmet

Dawn was breaking, and I was still asleep. Unconsciously though I knew what I must do when I awoke sometime around mid-day. I first gathered my wits when I awoke then proceed too add another layer of paint to my push bar for added protection!

I then started to bath my champion so that she may gleem in her finest hour!
I scrubbed vigorously to remove any evidence of my previous foray with the evil demon she was about to face! I even shined her tail pipe.

Now my friends, She was ready to face her formidable adversary.

To see the brutal massacre that occured tune in later tonight!!

Now for a fabrication tip if your wondering how I made those snazzy ends on the push bar.

What you will need is:
A Ball-peen Hammer
Sheet Metal
A Pipe

This is what you do you take the sheet metal and place it over top of the pipe so that it is covering it. In my case I used a peice of scrap 1 7/8's OD structual steel pipe and a scrap peice of 20Gauge mild steel sheet. Now you start to pound; pound like there is no tomorrow, pound for my poor car, pound for me, the center of the sheet metal into the pipe until a Nice dome forms such as this:

Oh, right, I forgot I used a vice to hold the pipe still. You could probably get away with holding the pipe on the ground. Turn the piece over and you will find that you have a nice dome.

Proceed to cut the dome to fit for your application, weld, and volia. A nice end cap.

That's a neat trick, with the pipe vise and hammer. I'll keep it in mind next time I hit a bush.
