Is it only one piece? If so, your best finding a small shop, or a guy who has access to a CNC that can do side work on it. Setup is EVERYTHING in the machining world.

Honestly, I tend to steer away from making one part on my cnc machines. Blueoval is right, setup is everything, and I'd charge a fortune to spend all that time to make one part.

pricing would probably look something like this:

1 is 500.00
5 is 800.00
25 is 1200.00
100 or more is 25 each

the machine shop i work at is basically about 600 bucks labor for a one off part if it can be completed in one day, then you are just looking at run time after that for each additional part. this is not including material cost or if there is teardown and setup time between part orders.

if you only need one i wouldnt look for a cnc shop. look for an older guy that runs a a manual lathe and can make this in an hour or two off a blueprint. it will be much cheaper than a cnc lathe.

well, after talking to a local fabricator, it seems cnc is overkill.

i need 2 items-
i'd need a plate, about 3/8 thick 17x14- waterjetted. simple shape.

i'd also need a pulley, dual belt, one side ~100mm, one side ~80mm. then bearings pressed in, one on each side.
(similar to this, just one side is 8 rib) http://www.modernperformance.c...l.jpg
