Machine main journal or buy a new crankshaft?
So I'm putting together an H22a1 sleeved block and I have all H22a4 internals. The main bearings are 55mm and the rod bearings are from either motor are 48mm. No problems on the rod end, but the mains........ Should I have the mains tunnel bored to 55mm and use the a4 crankshaft and a4 main bearings? Seems to me like the crankshafts are fairly expensive. Advice.... Pros and Cons.... Help please.

There arent very many shops I'd trust to bore the mains out like that. Remember if they are even a little off you'll be busting oil pumps all day.
You should be able to source a good used h22a1 crank pretty easily.

I thought I could find one is a flash too. Seems I was wrong. The cost of the crank and the cost of the machine work would likely be in the same ball park. But finding one......... Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I would get a new crank. Boring out that much on the main journals, is a lot! It will cost a ton, probably 4-5 cuts per journal, then who is to day you can go that far and still have room for your oil galleys, ect? Way easier to get a crank!

Got a crank for a Benny!!!! Drove 2 hours but brought the crank pulley bold and my gauges. Balance and polish and I am good to go...... Well, except for the freaking H22a1 oil cooler housing I am hunting down. after that, its just bolts. 7 months into this shiz and I am ready to tune her and whip her around. Help out if you know a spot for that oil cooler housing.
