This is what I've made for non oval shaped ports. Oval shaped ports you really can just crush the proper diameter tube in a vice and have it come out well.

Would it be better to heat it up prior to crushing it in a vice?

i need to find out how much the engine weights though...</TD></TR></TABLE>

One guy weighed it in comming in at 460lbs he doesnt give a good description on how he wieghed it.

I'm going to buy a proffessional hanging crane scale to get a 100% accurate weight.

Not really as long as you're doing a thinner gauge (~16).

awesome... when you get numbers please let me know.... 460 doesnt sound bad at all...... welll compared to the current v8 im plannning on using....

since it makes more torque than horsepower i assume it has a pretty long stroke compared to bore.... i wonder how it would react with a turbo.... durability wise.

I dont know much about CAD and welding but i know a little about airflow.

Make the transition from the oval port to the eventual round shape as long as you possibly can while fitting within the frameworks of the project.

No I havent weighed mines yet because I hear to much arguement about
the weight I need to buy a crane scale and find out myself. Since its DOHC its probably heavier than a 350. I would like the know the weight I'll buy a scale soon as I get a good price.

Oh yeah and this project is waitng for my new miller Dynasty 200DX

The non variable VT earlier 4.5's are RUMORED to have more power. Somewhere near 300 crank from the 278 in the later models.

Good project. Very interested in this.

They STARTED with Cam phasing and it will always help produce more power.

First the hole in the flange should be bigger than the port. And the Id of the tube should be the same size as the port. So that means that the tube will fit inside the hole in the flange. And the way I get it to that shape is very top secret. But I will tell you guys cuz I likes ya. I lay the tube on the bench and hit it with a rubber hammer. and it fits every time. NO bullshit.

the 350 is smaller in overall size than this nissan v8 but isnt it made out of aluminum? the 350 is cast iron... i doubt the 350 could be lighter though the nissan v8 is pretty huge. im gona pick it up today....
if they weigh the same i might take the nissan v8 anyways just cause it looks like it has more room for potential.... though i know the 350 is a good engine, that nissan engine really calls to me... just looking at its unassembled block impresses me.

Its all aluminum, and was made by die presure casting which is stronger than sand casting die method .

That would be better than a cnc'd flange to addapt to round tube, assuming u do it right. Maybe machine an oval roughly that size, then get it to stay inside at the end & stick it in a hydro press. You'd get the transition over ~1", rather than over 3/8"-1/2". Easier than splitting/widening the tube & welding up.

For weight, I do remember that lingenfilder deal with the V8 IS300. The all-alum v8 was 7lbs lighter (or heavier?) than the iron/alum i-6. Granted that's Lexus, but iron is heavy ****.

Honestly though, how do you plan on putting that much torque to the ground with 2 wheels? I think this is a darwin-award waiting to happen
