Default How hard is this---

I have a stainless steel exhuast system on my integra and i want to extend the muffler out so i can tilt it up and to the right. I don't have any stainless steel piping and i was wondering if it it's possible to use aluminum to bridge that gap. Is it and how hard is it? How much should i get charged?

heres what i did on my 8 sec race car.. made 1089whp on air plane fuel (i gotta fill it an an airport it kinda sucks)

anyways.

Cut the piping where you want it to 'bend' and reposition the muffler on the angle and build a brace to hold it there, get some scrap piping to bridge the gap then 'glue' everything together with JB weld (stuff is awesome). Let it dry and your done

Post pics i bet it will be intense looking!!

you want weld dissimilar metals

you can weld steel to steel

not aluminum to steel

to get yourself some steel

I actually tigged a stainless tial 50mm flange to an aluminum charge pipe once on a bet to see if it would hold pressure and it held around 15psi. never blew off lol and the guy still drives the car to this day. I told him I would fix it for him and he said forget it. so I dunno it works but its pointess when you can just do it right. Anyway just leave your **** the way it is.. no point for an angle.

No you cannot do it in a practical way.

Got any silverware you don't like? You could braze it with that if you are a ******* ninja. I tried it once. It was not awesome.

You could use mild steel and use Stainless wire for the welding and it would be fine but if you really want to do it and it last spend the money and have stainless piping used

I had a buddy who JB welded his IC piping together. He even went so far as to "bead" the putty to look like a stack of dimes, then painted it all in silver.
