Default Help with adding a tank to compressor

Well here's what I'm trying to do, I have this tired old campbell hausfeld compressor that is just junk and I'm looking to buy a new one. The one I'm looking at is a 4.5 gal 3.25 peak h.p. oil free unit that puts out 6.2 scfm @90, its quite a powerful little bastard. I want one that isn't going to take up a whole lot of space, is portable, and can run an impact wrench, air ratchet, etc., and this one fits the bill perfectly for me. Basically, I want to take the old junk compressor motor off my campbell hausfeld, weld up a bracket on the bracket that holds the existing motor, so that I can set my new ridgid compressor on top of it and utilize the extra 20 gallon capacity of the old tank to essentially make it a 24.5 gallon for when I'm working in the garage. I am basically wondering how I should plumb it, I want to be able to hook it up or unhook it quickly without much monkeying around, I'm thinking of taking the drain valve out of the ridgid and putting a quick connector on there and the same on the extra tank where the old motor was plumbed in and just using air hose to go between the two. What do you think? Any other suggestions?

If you go to your local NAPA they can make 3000 psi quickconnect lines for you (like the ones seen on skidders and dozers), but check your local laws first. I know in NC there is a division of the state that comes around to anyone known to have an air compressor and they check the wall thickness of the tank (ultrasonic I believe, he wouldn't tell me what kind of device he was using). If your tank walls are too thin or if you have a rigged up system like you're talking about they shut you down and will levy fines if you're found to be using the system after their inspection.

thanks for the input, now would the 3000 psi hose really be necessary? I mean the compressor is rated at 150 psi , wouldn't 300 psi air hose be sufficient?

That's the standard for high-pressure hydraulic lines.
