Re: (T4eg)
You are correct T4eg, they only save about 20 pounds on a 1999 Honda Civic Si too by replacing all the rear windows. Not 60 pounds as stated up above. It is a little over 2 pounds per quarter window and about 12 to 15 pounds for the rear window on a 99 Si. I weighed the quarter windows with a digital scale. Your stock quarter windows are slightly less than 5 pounds each. The FAL windows are about 2 pounds for the quarters. I don't know the weight of the rear windows since I have only replaced my passenger side quarter window because I just wanted to test these windows. I do know that the rear window is about 4 to 5 times the size of the quarter window so you can just extrapolate to come up with the actual weight. To install these windows, use 3M adhesive for windows. I don't know the name of the tool, but if you go get a window removal tool, it is basically a very strong wire that you just go around the window with that cuts through the old adhesive. Makes it real easy. Job is real hard if you don't have this tool. You don't need to reuse your old weatherstrip since these windows are slightly oversized. I have had no leaks. They don't scratch easily either and hold up to cold. I live in Minnesota. Have run the window through the car wash at a dozen times and it is scratch free.

Another way to save glass weight is to replace your sunroof glass with lexan. The glass in the sunroof on a 99 Si weighs 11 pounds. I replaced it with lexan and chopped 9 pounds off there. It is the highest weight on the car so the most important to lose for handling purposes. Bought a sunroof from a junk yard $25, knocked out the OEM glass and replaced it with a $12 piece of lexan. Worked great. Reused the factory weather strip. No leaks. That is all I have to say ....

Quote: my FAL side windows use the factory molding and install like a factory window and and the rear window does not.

WOW 2005 Thread... Back From the Death!

Did you still sell them? No issue with the sides and OEM Moldings? Just install it like OEM Glass? what about the Rear?

Thanks!
