Wow, what disaster this was. Justin jones, I wasent posting this thread expecting everyone to be [freak]ing experts on making trusses. I was more or less just looking for creative ideas ,plus alot of people on here have alot of real world experience. So there is no need to be a jackass about it.

I apologize for being a dick about this. I agree, there are a lot of creative people on Honda Tech. But go talk to a company that fabricates trusses and engineers them. In my experience, big engineering and construction companies are always more than willing to help out young engineering students in their studies. Firstly, it's good PR and secondly they were in your shoes once.

 

hard oak or other strong hard wood bolts/braces/triangulation and metal plates

should get the job done

 

but a house "truss" isnt a classical truss anyways since the joints are totally different.
