MORE ON THE CHAT
OK, looks like we have enough interest to do this...now we just have to figure out how to get it done. I personally do not know enough about any of these services to tell which will be best, I have AIM so I figured others would have it too. I know there are a lot of IT guys out there so give us some suggestions on which service to use. I think the most important feature would be allowing easy entry to the room. Maybe something where we could set up a room then put up a post in here for everyone to get there. Can you do that with AIM? Looks like a lot of people have it. Then I know the downloads for these programs are minimal so I think it is worth the 10 minutes it takes to get registered. OK, now the next question is when, same time every week...that's the only way we can get this thing going. Place your votes, and post your suggestions. Also, I think it would be smart to do it in the evening, maybe 9:00 or 10:00 EST, that way it wount be too late for the east coast guys or too early for the westerners.

Re: MORE ON THE CHAT (2K_TEG)
It is me again, so I was just screwing around with my AIM and it seems that the only way to get someone into a chat in AIM is to invite them. I think it would be better if people could just "come" after directions for doing so were posted here on HT. SO, i went to Yahoo like someone had suggested and there you can start a room and anyone who wants can join. Then whoever started the room can throw out any ******** that may show up to rain on our parade. There is no downlaod and it only takes a few minutes to register so I think this is our best bet.

IRC = Internet Relay Chat. Arround before any instant messager was made. Go to http://www.mirc.com/... that's a common client.
IRC is easy to manage. Some of the networks let you easily manage who is in change of the room and such.

Re: MORE ON THE CHAT (dustin)
24/7 chats never work out. People log on at times that are too random and never meet up with enough people to make it worthwhile. Scheduled chats are the best...that way everyone that is interested shows up and there's lots of chatter.

The server would be up 24/7, so that then we can schedule a time to meet and not be limited by the service. Nothing prevents you from scheduling a meeting.

Hmm it had an option to let it work with webtv and I turned it on. I honestly have no idea how you would connect with webtv though.
