Custom Roll cage
....i would like to thank Big Tom and Miller for everything they do for me and the car and also would like to thank everyone for the nice comments on my cage.
Tom and Miller's work is always top notch, so stay tuned because this is just the begining of great things to come.

Putting down nice welds that everyone freaks over is one thing, but cutting, bending and fitting a roll cage like this one is a whole other world. Really really nice cage! I've got a ways to go before I can make a cage like that.
Great work guys!
Great work guys!

Very nice welds great fit, but from a design standpoint I would change a couple of things.
I'd put the downtubes on the rear shock tower with plates.
I would attach the downtubes closer to the bend on the main hoop.
I would have run a diagonal bar from the pass. side rear shock tower to the intersection of the main hoop and downtube.
Other than that, it looks great!

..Everyone has there own opinion on how it should be/look. The only thing that matters is that 100$ sticker on my cage that says "certified by NHRA". thanks for the comments tho

Their standards are pretty low compared to road racing series. I guess because there is so little possibility of car to car contact.
Workmanship and fit looks great. It's not easy to notch tubes so accurately.

Apparently, I just don't understand how anyone would think that is a good idea

..the cage has been certified already. So i guess there is no prob. with having it like that. There are plenty of cages out there the same way.

Well I guess there is no problem with those guys certifying the cage, but that sure as hell has nothing to do with wether that is proper chassis design or not.

..I think that Bob Nixon who does chassis certification for NHRA, and has been doing this for some time and if he felt that the cage was unsafe or poor design in any way he would have said some thing. And also, Knowing Tom from NRG-tech, who has done alot of cages and who is as **** as he is with fitment and proper design, if he felt other wise it would not be like that.

I never said I doubted the cage was certified, a bit surprised but I have seen some crap pass tech before.
You must not have any mech engineering experience, the way those rear down tubes are placed on top of that cross bar is stupid. The rear down tubes should be welded with base plates to the rear strut towers, the cross bar should stay where it is. I'm not saying that tom is a shitty fabricator, the fitup and welds look great, the a pillar bars and hoop are tight to the body which is awesome, the design on the rear portion, not so hot.

It's OK Dave-
Road Race cages are very different in design from drag racing cages...
Many a drag race cage that I have seen don't even attach the rear legs to the shock tower, but deeper in the trunk area(something you would never do in a w2w race car).
That's how they do it, it passed tech, it's a beautiful cage, and that's it!

I understand its not a road race, or offroad/rally cage, which is what I have more experience with but I fail to see why this is considered acceptable or normal.
When you run the rear bars down on top off that cross bar you create an unsupported load bearing cross member. Why would you do that?
If no one understands what I am talking about maybe I shouldn't say anything about where the rear bars mate to the hoop and how they should line up with the halo...
Just chill guys I am not trash talking the cage, I am just wondering what the justification is behind running the bars that way.
