oh i wasnt making fun of you. i was making fun of the guy who made the post about the cermamic. i was just trying to be funny but i guess i just fucked up your thread instead. sorry.
here is a suggestion. i once made a gated shifter for my civic. start by removing the shifter boot. measure the distance that the shift lever travels front to back from first gear to second, at the base where the shifter meets the floor molding. then measure the diameter of the shift lever at that point is well. so now you should have a couple of dimensions:
the distance from the most forward postion of first gear to the most rearward postion of second gear.
and the width of the shift lever itself.
so lets say the throw measures 3 inches and the width of the shift lever is .5 inches
take some thin plastic sheeting or plexi glass and cut this shape out of it with a dremel tool:

this shape will be the same for gears 3 and 4 but you dont know how far over to put it. the way i did it was i cut this shape out:

over lap the second shape with the first one and then slide the second shape bacvk and forth until you get the proper distance for the shifter to move laterally. then clamp the two pieces together or glue them if necessary. this will leave you with a shape that resembles the following:

obviously you need to duplicate this for 5th and 6th gear and then make a slot for reverse.
once you are done you can attach this piece and make sure the clearances are correct for every gear. once that is determined, you need to make precise measurements and then draw the shape onto a piece of aluminum. cut the shape out with your dremel tool and drill holes in the plate and mount it to your floor molding piece. you will never mis shift again.

niles you never cease to amaze me. i would love to pick your brain about the suspension setup if you dont mind. i have been reading a ton of suspension classics, and i would like to see which approach you took.
