Ok am I missing something ?

That's the best you are going to do, use your brain and make a jig. I don't understand what so hard to understand about how to make these.

It takes time, money, material, wasted material to get it right, it takes trial an error.

I don't see what else you guys want. There is no big secret, there is no big machine that pumps these out by the dozen.

All hes saying is that he tried a while back and he had no luck, quit pouncing. No one is this stupid not to know it takes practice. It's a good topic your're killing the nice mood.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by engloid &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Here's the problem with that theory:

We all know that it's just a matter of time till everybody has easy access to this information. Therefore, if this is the "meat and potatoes" of your livlihood, you're hanging on to it by a thread which is not going to hold much longer.

Hopefully, you and others that are keeping this information secret are working on, or have other attributes or products to "hang your hat on." So, WHEN this information all comes out, do you want to be seen as one of the guys that protected something so small and simple, as a means of making money off of them....OR would you rather be the guy that's seen as helpful and was willing to share information to help others?

I'm not trying to bash you or anybody, but there's often times a price you pay for keeping "trade secrets"... We all know this is simple stuff and WILL be common knowledge at some point...

Actually, anybody that frequents a few sites will already know how, as it's already been posted. I have seen pics of this on homemadeturbo.com and on HT forums.</TD></TR></TABLE>

^^ he makes a good point.

The hard part isn't cutting a strait piece of Pipe. It's taking a U bend And getting the angles correct so that the inlet pipes are all parallel and even. It's a trick. I made some great 2-1 collectors about a year ago but my dum *** didn't get the angles steep enough and they are spread to far apart to fit under an oil pan. It would have been easier if i owned a bandsaw but I had to go to a freinds house and do it on his time. I am searching for a bandsaw now and i will try again.

copied from a post on hmt

Here is the saw I'll be using.Ryobi 14"chopsaw,but you can use any 14" saw.

Here is the first cut.I use 5 inch length peices of pipe, set the clamp at an angle, clamp the pipe down and cut.

Cut #2,turn the pipe so that cut #1 is facing up(when you cut steel pipe make sure you start off slow or else the blade will want to walk)

There now you only have 3 more peices of pipe to cut.

Tack the 4 peices up and weld away. Here are some pics of the finished product.

There wasn't that easy? Now you are ready to make a N***A PLEASE manifold

Here are some random pics of things I've been working on while I'm at work.Yes I work another job.2 jobs actually

Homemade catchcan

Homemade vaccum manifold

Ball bearing turbo?

D-series top mount manifold(not sure weather I'm going to start selling these or not)Gonna test it out first.

Oh yeah,I just recieved my new tig torch a few days ago.#9 air cooled torch with gas lens and #4 cup.Its pretty small so I can weld in tight places.

Testing out the new torch.

OK THE END.Thanks for looking.

i dont understand what all the damn drama is about i cut my first collector with a 4 1/2 in. grinder w/cutoff wheel at a 15 degree angle and some 5th grade math that i used on a tracing of the tubing diameter and it looked just as good as the one in the first picture now those last pictures my hat goes off that collector is purrdy!!

oh and p.s. this thread is OLD

The trick isn't really making the jigs. The jigs are easy but for the DIY guy it's difficult to get a high enough quality saw to cut them well. There is a fair amount of wander in the cheaper bandsaws. I've built jigs for the milling machine to cut them but it's not fast enough. I've paid my guy to do them with a 6" grinder and a stainless zip cut wheel and I've done them with bandsaws. A good vertical bandsaw with high quality blade and a good jig is the best in my opinion.

I don't mind posting pictures of mine. It's no secret. Anybody with a slight hint of geometry should be able to figure it out. I made it out of 11 gauge aluminum scrap that I had around my work shop. I didn't clean up the aluminum, so it's not the prettiest thing, but it works.
