Cages that go THROUGH the dash...how the hell?
I've seen this several times and never once have I fully grasped how you do this..and if its possible to remove your dash once this has been done?
It could be as simple as... take your hole saw...cut a hole on your dash...route the tube through..voila! But... is this a one time deal? e.g. you route it through, weld it, and then never remove your dash?
Please enlighten me.

i ran my pillar bars through the "Honda" dash vents, then made two cuts so i can remove my dash in and out. you can kinda see one of the cuts on the right side of the bar.
I did the same thing for my down tubes. Ran them through the vent and cut a big slit so the dash could be pulled out.
Worked pretty well.

we cut the windshield out when rhodes did mine. to answer the other question, the dash is in there for the long haul he hee.

dash removal?
I see it all the time and think it's incredibly unpractical.
I had the front-most corners of the dash notched as to be able to remove and reinstall the dash at any time, looks clean and is functional

Mine goes through the dash, and the dash is not removable, and it sucks, considering I want to swap out dashes, and need to remove the dash in order to cut the old one out.
Next dash will be notched for the bars for sure!

Its a race car .The dash doesn't need to come out.Go look at some NHRA cars just about every one is through the dash.

i would think that the dash would need to be quite removable in race cars. at least it is with how my car is setup, most of my main wiring and ign stuff is up under there. i have 4 quick turn fasteners that i have holding it in so that i can get it off in seconds.

That car in the pic has a 12 point cage with all the stock interior still in place.

Because **** happens, lets say you fry your interior harness.... its about 120391039 times easier to pull swap them out when the dash is out. You can make a removable dash look really clean, so why not
i do see your point jeff, and im not arguing. i am dreading the day if it has to come out. i hope it doesnt.
hind sight is always 20/20

here are some better pics of what i did. and another thing, something i noticed at the lucas oil divisional races, a lot of the superstockers put their brake master cylinder underneath the dash, just to get one less thing out of the engine bay.
