Cut holes in the floor and drop the cage. Easy access to the halo

That's a good idea, but if you don't want holes in the floor, you can us gassets. Even if you do drop your cage through a hole, gassets are always a good idea. But gassets were intended for angles in the main hoop that don't get welded all the around(3/4).

Every rule book that I've read says that all required tubes need to be welded 360* around.

Yep... but then again you have the 6x6 plates covering them.

DO Not use just one plate per corner. Take 4 sets of 6X6 .25" plate, centered on four of these plates, drill a hole the same size as your tubing. Next pair up the plates 1 w hole and 1 w/o hole. Drill four 1/2" holes in the four sets of plates. Take the hole plate and set it on top of the floor pan (on each corner of course) and drop your cage through the floor. Take the the non centered drilled plate and place it beneath the car where the cage rests on the ground. Weld this plate to the bottom of the down post at all four corners. Raise the cage to the underside of the floor pan and support it against the bottom. Next drill the floor pan for the four grade 8 bolts to go through and mate the top plate to the holes and bolt the cage to the floor sandwiching the floorpan. Strength will be in the ability to disapate energy from an impact throughout the entire floor. Otherwise, use a cage base of no less than 1.50" square tubing of .095 and weld the down posts to those square tubes after you cut and put them inside the rockers each side and weld to the rockers. My preferred method is the last. Much stronger on side impact and moves the outward most section away from the driver on side impacts, gives one about four more inches of separation.

Just my .02 cents. But what do I know, I'm an old fart.

Cheers,

Donnie

Forgot to ask, what type of racing are you planning? Get the sanctioning body's rule book and see what they require FIRST!!!! Some might require that the cage be attached to a base other than plates, but square tubing of "X" size, in "Y" location.

Food for thought.

Cheers,

Donnie
