Brazing help!!!

Default Brazing help!!!

when i am brazing, the finished product has a whole bunch of holes on it..they are more like craters in it, there are a lot of these craters, i think its called porosity. how can i reduce this? thanks!!!

I'll assume you're brazing carbon steel with low fuming bronze? Your joint needs to be clean (free of oil and mill scale as well, preferrably.)

Try using less heat.

ok i tried that, i cleaned it very good, and used less heat, still happens to me..

i don't think i've ever had brass get holes in it, even on really dirty stuff. Something sounds contaminated. What material are you welding and what rod are you using?

flood it with filler rod. The filler rod is going to act as a quenching mechanism as well as add structure the the metal. Don't go overkill obviously, but it worked for me.
