Which bender
So the idea of buy or not just changed to gonna buy!
thats the one option.$500 with everything.. You need nothing else.. Only options are dies.
Or the JD2 model.
$575.. a bit more and still need the options.
Whatcha think?

Re: Which bender (Want2race)
OR one very similiar. Power Hydraulic system is more money but certainly faster and easier. Have done 15 -16 cages and 2 super truck builds with it over the last 2 years.
What is not shown in your picture is a "U" shaped strap the bolts to the die you see in the pic. The view you are looking at is the back side. This "U" mates the pipe and die keeping them together during the bending operation, the horizontal black piece on the bottom is just a track to place the pipe in and guide the pipe. Although, if used in a permanate position, it is helpful to extend the bed to hold at length pipe to keep the feeding straight.
Worth every penny if you want painless, quick builds. Only drawback I can think of is no degree gauge to accurately bend to a given calibrated position. Other than that....auh, get it and be done with getting something inferior, the ease of bending is fundamently simple with that one exception.
BTW I use it sitting on the floor with 2-4' pieces of wood to support the pipe lengths. Instead of mounting it permanently, I can simply drag it over to where I need to use it, and it gets used all over the shop.

Re: Which bender (D Jaws II)
I'm picking up a bender soon and I'm deciding between these two benders:
http://www.pro-tools.com/105.htm (manual bender)
http://www.pro-tools.com/302.htm (hydraulic bender)
I've used both styles of benders before, but the only two things that have me debating which bender to get is that with a hydraulic it's pretty easy to over-bend, but with a manual bender I have to drill holes into the floor of a rented garage
What do you guys think?

Re: Which bender (SiRex91)
The only problem I have seen with stand mounted benders, it is tough to do multiple bends keeping the pipe registered on a given axis when mounting the same pipe for a second bend, it wants to move with gravity. Whereas, when I am on the floor, I can always prop it up to support the pipe, keeping it registered in the direction I want to go with much less effort and two people.

the model 4 guids the "guide bar around the tubing and dosent streatch it with a strap like the model 3 so the quality of your bends is much better. the model 4 can also do some close compounds, alot closer than the model 3.
i know which works best because i have owned all three and some.
