6 point, they actually grip the nut very well. 12 pt just strip everything and suck. 6 point FTW

12 points are good when you need them, ex flywheels and such

use 6 pnt when you have 6pnts, and 12 when you have 12. Simple.

yeah 6 points work better and dont round off, but there are times when you ARE going to need 12 point wrenches, if you can only get one set for now, i would get the 12 points, but if you can afford both, get both sets, youll need em all

I'm going to go with the 6pt set for now, the only 12pt bolt I came in contact with so far was the flywheel bolts. I have a set of sockets for that, there just not deap throat....thanks

well personally id go with the 12 pt first...here is why, and it has nothing to do with whether they are 12 pt bolts or regular 6 sided: when you get a regular 6 sided bolt in a tight spot where you can only move the wrench about 20 degrees, youll be wishing you had the 12 pt

ok so speed reading owns me

but in my defense the way i was looking at it is its always best to have the tools to do more jobs, then get the specialty tools later

if that makes any sense

i bought a 12pt deep set and regretted it... should have bought a 6pt deep and have a regular 12pt.. the flywheel is 12pt but you don't need a deep... it's more cumbersome if you use a deep socket on something with shallow bolts.

6 pt = for high torque.
12pt = for limited space for turning.

Basically, what you want to do is buy tools constantly regardless if you'll ever use them more than once or not. Assemble a list of usage priority and cost, then buy, buy, buy. The only time you should stop is if your wife threatens to leave you...until that time just simply continue to spend.

If she does find out then your going to have to start "needing" things from the store on occasion, a little more gas in the car, a present for the mom....basically a bunch of fake excuses to bank extra dollars which can be spent on tools in secret.

Sometimes I actually have to get out of my car and run up the driveway in a sprint to keep from being seen on my way to the garage with bags in hand, but I sure do have alot of tools. Mail order is also great...some companies ship in very low key, incognito named boxes which contain tools. Kind of similar to buying *****'s online and such... Judge the book by the cover is the way of the world....nothing to see here.....nothing to see here...move along people.
