321ss thin wall or 304 sch 10 turbo manifold?
I am currently looking to build a turbo manifold for my drag car. The car is a 2002 VW GTI and will have a GT40r turbo on it. I cannot make up my mind whether to make it out of 16 gauge 321ss or 304ss sch 10. Can I get some pro's and con's for each. Also I am not worried abou the price of 321ss.
I have been tig welding for about 2 years now. I have fabricated turbo manifolds, downpipes, charge piping, and intake manifolds.
So, how good are you?
The thin stuff is going to crack if everything is not 100%. Your odds are much better with thicker material.
