FOR SALE: 1965 Honda S600 Convertible, rare peice of Honda history, near Pittsburgh PA.
Well, I'm considering selling my 1965 Honda S600 Convertible. It needs a complete restoration but is in great overall condition. The body is in overall great shape, very solid floor boards, trunk pan, and body panels. Most of the rust is serface rust, however there are a few spots where it is rusted through. There is a section on the driver side quarter panel that has some bondo work (looks like prior collision damage poorly repaired).
Currently the car is completely dissasembled, the interior is out of the car and is in boxes, as well as the engine (it is dissasembled and is in boxes). The engine is the original numbers matching engine to this car though.
I also have a few NOS parts that I've acquired that could be sold with the car if the price is right, such as brand new "HONDA" fender emblems, and brand new fender mirrors, I have a beautiful S600 wooden steering wheel, as well as numerous used parts.
Also, I can make the buyer a photocopy of an original shop manual for this car (the original I want to keep since I'll be buying another S600). Also, I can give you all my email contacts of other S car owners who are very helpfull with finding hard to find parts.
This is a perfect restoration candidate. Again, I'm just considering selling this car, so I'm testing the waters to see what offers I can get. I was recently presented with an opportunity to buy an early glass-covered headlights modle S600 that's almost turn-key, that's the only reason I'm considering selling mine so that I can have a nice chunk of change to go towards the other one.

Like I said, this a true vintage peice of Honda History, and is a rare car to find in the USA. It's estimated that there are roughly 300-400 of these cars in North America most of them in Canada, half of those that run (of that half that run half of those have their original engine).
As far as price is concerned, it's so hard to put a value on these cars since they rarely come up for sale. Over the past few months, I think 3 were for sale on ebay, and all of them were the less disirable "Coupe" version. The last Convertible I seen for sale on ebay was almost a year ago, and went for well over $7,000.00, and it had a hacked up frame to accomidate some form of a volvo drivetrian (and the body had dents and dings, and a few rust spots).
I am not looking to make any large profits on my car, I just want to break even on the money I already have invested into it. To discuss prices, please PM me. And please, no dreamers or window shoppers, only those who are 100% interested.

$3500 the way it sits, with every single OEM part that I removed from the car. I will give the buyer the oportunity to buy my extra parts that I purchased for the car at an extra cost (I have at least $1000 worth of new/used parts that I bought, so $4500 for the car and parts)

I'm going to tell you now, an F20C will never fit in this car under any circumstances.
The F20C is two times the size of the stock engine, and the stock engine sits at a 45 degree angle in the engine bay, while the F20C stands upright for the most part.
Kind of like this (imagine the letters are the engine ):

So if you were to somehow mount that in there, you would have to cut a huge hole in the hood, and make some kind of huge "blower cover" to cover the F20C engine that's sticking out of it.
And then you have the issue of the transmission. The F20C tranny is roughly two and a half times the size of the stock S600 tranny. You would have to completely butcher the tranny tunnel from where it starts at the engine bay, all the way back to the front of the trunk area, because that's were the shifter would be relocated to, the trunk. So who knows, "maybe" you could custom fab up some linkage so you can actually shift the car from where you're supposed to.
Then you have the issue of what rear end to use. The S600 is chain driven, the chains are in chain cases, the chain cases are attached to a rear differential, and that differential is not parallel with the rear tires, it forward about 1 and 1/2 feet to accommodate the chain cases. So maybe you can directly mount the S2K tranny to the S600 rear differential eliminating a drive-shaft all together, or maybe you think the S2K rear differential will work. Well it won't. It's wider than the rear of the S600 body. So unless you're good with shortening the length of rear differential units, that's out of the question.
In conclusion, don't even attempt such a thing in a car this rare. You're going to get so far and realize you're going no-where fast because this car is just "to small" to handle an S2K drivetrain. You're going to butcher a classic, and devalue what could otherwise be a very valuable collectible car.
Don't take anything I said the wrong way, I'm just telling you my opinion because the same thoughts went through my head when I first got the car. But after just doing a little research on the dimensions of my car versus the dimensions of the S2K, it's just out of the question.
That being said, I will not sell the car to anybody that even hints of doing such a thing.
