i dont know how it works in Canada, but in America insurance companies are only insuring what is on the paper, a 1988 Honda CRX. you could have the Mona Lisa, Stanley Cup, and Hope diamond in the trunk, but if your car gets stolen your getting KBB.
now since you have reciepts and photos proving that your car was heavily modified, the insurance company should reimburse you for some of it, but i know there is a limit.
your best bet is going to be buying it back and building another car with whatever you can salvage from it. its the only way you will be able to enjoy the money you spent. next best would be to buy it back and part it out, you would still get more money than if you just took the insurance check.
also, dont worry about all the haters that roam this place, but in all honesty its a US$6K tops car. i know how easy it is to get $25K wrapped up in a car, but people tend to forget what it costs for quality parts and workmanship, especially people in rust-free, Honda-plenty California and such.

LOLOLOL!!! Fast and Furious called, they want their extra back. And to other folks who think this is 'cool dude', Don't take any modifying tips from THIS guy.
So much invested and still doesn't run 10's, damn dude, WTF were you thinking? Ill give you my EF shell with OEM body so you can start again, but no more ricer shyt, its folks like you that make "rice" bond with honda.
I would deff. buy the car back from the Insurance Company and part it out, atleast youll get some cash back, other than that, if the rex is totalled, there should be a junkyard poll with their price on it.

Good luck getting anything. My Del Sol was stolen and i only got $4,362 back. And i had the works just like you do, minus the hideous body kit. Youre probably going to get less than 4K (usd).
Good Luck, youre going to need it.

im not putting your car down, cause it is nice, but obviously the insurance company would total it, they go by what it blue books for and the blue book on that car is what, 600 bucks.,. so do what i would do, buy it back from the insurance company for probly 100 bucks , part it out and cut your losses

The final value
Well for all you 'haters' out there..I ended up getting $19,600 from my insurance company for my totalled off car. And all it cost me was $150 to pay an appraiser and arbitration fee. I appreciate all the useful comments, the rest of you can try to come up with some more hateful comments on $19,600, or whatever else makes you feel better about yourselves..
O and I forgot to mention, the insurance company also paid the taxes on my new vehicle up to $1,960... and I took full advantage of that..

wow, good thing they totaled it then, you came out a winner on that one big time. Even after you replaced all the ricy **** it would only be worth half that, maybe.
