This is your chance to own a piece of history. The DR30 Skyline RS-X Turbo-C is the granddaddy of the GT-R, as it was the first Skyline with an inline DOHC turbo engine. The Skyline RS-X Turbo-C has independent front and rear suspension, with a R200 Limited Slip Differential. The Turbo-C comes with larger brakes to handle the increased speed and power with the FJ20ET turbo engine. The front bumper cover is also unique to the RS-X Turbo-C, with a low hanging lip with a dedicated duct and shroud for the intercooler.
This car is a 100% legal import from Japan under the 25 year-old regulations imposed by the DOT and NHTSA/EPA. The car currently carries a Washington State title, and is transferable to any state as well as Canada. The car has been in the country since March 22, 2010.
This particular DR30 Skyline RS-X Turbo-C has extremely low miles for its vintage, at just over 49,000. This is the highest end model with a 2.0L turbocharged and intercooled inline-four with 16 valves and dual overhead camshafts. The rare FJ20ET engine has established a cult following with Nissan & Datsun enthusiasts, specifically because of the high power potential without opening up the bottom end, upwards of 500hp. Some say the FJ20ET was the birth of future Nissan DOHC Turbo inline motors. This particular model is rated at 205hp/185tq, and at just over 2,700lbs it a blast to drive.
Mechanically the car is in good shape. The car rides very firm and has little play or slop in the suspension & steering. Even the electronic dampeners still work (standard/sport). The engine runs very well, and has a new distributor cap/rotor, spark plugs, air filter, and oil change w/filter. The intake manifold and valvecover were repainted with wrinkle red, as the red factory paint was beginning to fade. The valvecover gasket, spark-plug O-rings, intake manifold and throttlebody gaskets are replaced. Most of the OE vacuum lines have been replaced with silicon.
The front electric windows function, as do the power door locks (and keyless entry). The car's cruise control and front headlight cleaners still work well. The front seat fabric has faded and is starting to show through in a few spots, from a distance it is not noticeable. There are seat covers included to prolong the life of the seats if needed. The rear seats come with the OEM 'JDM' headrest covers. The rear seats are also fading around the tops due to weathering and age.
There are a few minor issues that can be taken care of relatively easily by the new owner. The stereo only outputs to one speaker, the rear electric windows function, but are unplugged since they will ‘bottom out’ and fail to return up, the AC needs a recharge, and there are a few interior trim pieces that are showing their age.
There is an aftermarket keyless remote entry, comes with two ‘switchblade’ style fobs (similar to VW/Audi fobs).
Overall, the exterior is in great condition. There are no dings or dents, and the body is very straight. There are a few weather molding strips on the exterior that could use replacing. The ‘RS’ badges are losing their color, and there is a little rust on exposed steel parts, but it appears to be surface rust which should not pose any problems with leaks or structural integrity.
The car comes with RS Watanabe 16” 3-piece alloys. The tires are Michelin Pilot sport tires, 205/55 Front and 225/50 Rear, with about half of the tread remaining.
This would be a very fun project car, or just as another toy to drive on the weekends.
Price is $8,500 firm. Not interested in any trades at this time, so please do not bother.
