THE BAD:
- Obviously the paint and body inst of showroom quality. The pictures point out every flaw i could find.
- Transmission counter shaft may be slightly warped giving an audible oscillating sound when moving. I've driven the car this way for over 20,000 miles with no negative effects. Transmission oil is always normal. Shifts are always smooth and not notchy.
- Seat belts are slow to retract. But Honda has a lifetime warranty on seatbelts, i have the warranty card. So this shouldn't be a problem to fix.
MY OPINION:
This is car was meant to be my track / race car. I never completed my project. i've owned it for many years and have spend thousands of dollars on it fixing/replacing parts that are functional rather than make it look pretty. The car stock is around 1800 lbs. I've since removed about 200lbs from the car. This has made the car lighter. The car handles more responsively. Brakes/stops at shorter distances, and accelerates faster. Not to mention gets slightly better gas mileage.
The 1992 - 1993 Civic Hatchbacks are more desirable than the 1994 -1995 hatchbacks b/c the earlier models are lighter. In 1994 honda introduced passenger side airbags which add a little bit more wiring and weight due to the components.
Out of the civic models in the 1992 - 1993 line up. The CX and VX hatchback were the lightest. Why choose a VX over a CX? Well many little details add up to make this a very rare and unique car.
- VX came with lightweight aluminum A/C and alternator brackets.
- VX came with light weight alumium alloy wheels not steel.
- VX came with front chin spoiler for better aerodynamics
- VX came with the VTEC-E economy engine which gets better gas mileage than any other civic in the lineup.
- VX is pre-wired for VTEC. meaning swapping in a bigger more powerful VTEC motor is easier.
- VX came with factory oil coolers.
- VX came with tachometers to see engine rev speeds.
- VX VTEC-E heads have roller rockers to reduce friction on the camshafts. As well as a uniquely designed head and a high compression ratio for better efficiency.
This car is only rated at 91 HP from the factory, but when mated to the custom transmission, it scoots and handles very nicely. And still gets really great gas mileage. Of course with the addition of higher gear ratios and a LSD. The gas mileage has suffered from the upper 40MPG to mid 30MPG. These are combined averages!
If you want to stay conservative I still have the original transmission that i will include with the purchase of the car for free, that YOU can re-install and get the phenomenal gas mileage it used to get.
The Car is already pre-wired for VTEC from the factory and will be perfect to swap in a bigger DOHC B or K series or SOHC D series motor if desired.
The ride in this car is on the rough side due to the race style suspension set-up and remember the gears are a lot shorter, and there's no sound deadening material. This is not for the faint at heart. But I've commuted in this car for many many years the way it is and have gotten used to it.
The car is a fun daily driver with tons of space and is as reliable any honda, as rugged as a pickup truck, drives like a go-kart. And as economical as a hybrid.
Car has always passed smog.
PLEASE E-MAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR TO ARRANGE A TIME TO LOOK AT THE CAR! SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY! NO JOY-RIDES! NO HOLDING/ DOWN PAYMENTS / FIRST PERSON WITH CASH TAKES IT!

Re: 1993 CIVIC VX HATCHBACK HATCH BACK SEMI-RACE GAS SIPPER!
not sure why anyone would spend that kind of money on a d-series tranny except for autox staying legal in some unmodified class. Pick any b-series jdm tranny fresh from a container and for 1000-1600 you can beat on it for years.
great car in such a raggedy shell. GLWS!

transmission.
- ACT XACT Street lite 12 lb chromoly steel flywheel.
- ACT Street/Strip pressure plate. ( not hard at all to depress).
- Exedy O.E. Clutch Kit.
- New O.E. Transmission Mount Bracket.
- New O.E. Clutch Master Cylinder.
- New O.E. Throwout Bearing.
- MFactory Magnet Drain plug.
- O.E. Honda Manual Transmission Fluid changed at every other engine oil change.
- Every shift feels direct with no grinds whatsoever.
- Over $5,000 invested into the transmission.
So your trying to tell me you invested $5,000 dollars into a single cam slammer trans? I guess that makes more sense than a k swap. Bump for a good deal

Re: 1993 CIVIC VX HATCHBACK HATCH BACK SEMI-RACE GAS SIPPER!
Thanks for the bump guys. My plans w/ BENSE was to build a high compression D15 using O.E. parts that would get great gas mileage and decent power. The focus of the project was to stay light and cheap.

Re: 1993 CIVIC VX HATCHBACK HATCH BACK SEMI-RACE GAS SIPPER!
That's why i mentioned that the STOCK transmission would be included with the purchase of the car.
The buyer could revert back to a stock VX drive train get super mileage.
or if the buyer chooses, they could build up a super-d series monster to mate with the already race built tranny.
or since the car is already VTEC prewired, just swap in a bigger DOHC motor.
