I have a D15B VTEC motor and just put a D16Z6 trans on it. 1st and 2nd are ok,, but 3rd the shifter jerks back and forward when giving it gas...4th won't stay in..5th does the same as 3rd. The car jerks in 3rd and 5th also. The throw-out bearing is shot,, could that cause this to happen? What all could it be? I don't know a thing about a tranny,, so I need some help please.

sounds like a mount issue, did you a bolt or two out of the rear mount?

 

mount issue perhaps. maybe the mount for the shifter itself. get under the car and shake stuff around. you may just see something obvious.

 

Well from what I can tell it isn't a mount. Could it just be a bad tranny?

 

Check your shift linkage it might be damage or you bushing that connects to the shift linkage to your shift **** try looking at that ...

 

It's the throw out bearing definitely. Replace it and I am sure it will help you.
