Default syncro help

how can i tell if a set of syncros are good? ive never ran them before and they look to be in pretty good condition? i deal with these type of things on a daily basis but have never delt with used ones. if their good ill run 'em but if not back to the seller they go. isn't there a certain way to measure the gap when installed?

**** YES! i went ahead and used .035 as a minimum and found a few bad gears as well so i replaced them and slapped it in and it shifts like butter now. it used to be you could only go up to 3k in 3rd, now i can go up to 8500 and still shift

can i get the PM as well? i bought a full rebuild kit from synchrotech, and my 3rd gear is starting to get really bad (it grinds around 4k with a quick shift) and i'm scared the hub may be wearing down, how will i check to see if i need new hubs, sliders/gear selectors when i'm rebuilding the trans?
