Default Speedometer does not work/ D4 does work light up

So I've had my 94 honda accord lx (Automatic) for about a month and a half.
Let me begin by saying that between work and my son I have not had much time to make any maintenance until now.
The few things I've done so far..
New tires/subwoofer
Added transmission fluid. (debating whether to flush or not)
Installed new VSS
Changed most fuses in underhood box
I've tried to extract codes using the "paper clip trick" but it only brings my C.E.L. on (not on without paperclip inserted)
Anyways...
Whenever I change gears from park, theres a hard kick or "buck". Speedometer only works about 5% of the time and is usually completely wrong.
My D4 light has never once illuminated since I've had the car. (I will be checking the bulb tomorrow, I know that comes first)
Also I'm noticing that my odometer may not be reading either. As of now it reads 146 374. I will update after a few miles.

And one last possibly non related question,
When going to check the TCM I found a black wire with a gold o connection on the end just hanging there above the center pin holding the passanger carpet down. Does anybody know what this wire could be? From what I've read, I want to say its the heater valve cabel.
(I never checked the TCM nor did I follow the found wire to far)

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
