Default Shifting Issue

I've searched through Google but have been unsuccessful in finding an answer. I installed my Hybrid Racing shifter cable bushings today and made sure to be extra cautious when handling the cables in order to avoid bending or kinking. Once I finished I made sure to check my work. I found that the shift lever when moved to the right springs back as normal, however when moved to the left it does not. At this point I figured I may have bent or kinked the corresponding cable. I reinstalled the OEM bushings and found that moving the shift lever to the left and right spring back as normal. I then reinstalled the Hybrid Racing bushings and found that the issue described above occurred again. You would think if the corresponding cable for the left to right motion of the shift lever was bent or kinked the issue would persist with both types of bushings. This is not the first time I have installed shifter cable bushings on this car. Last time I did I handled both cables more carelessly and bent the cable which corresponds with shifting into gear (up and down). Any ideas as to what may be causing this issue?
