So recently my reverse just went out. I try to put it into reverse but it doesn't seem to go into gear. I can get it half way into it, and occassionally when I try multiple times it goes into reverse, when I do get it into reverse it makes a weird clanking sound inside the tranny or around the transmission area. The reverse light doesn't come in either. What could've went out?

 

The reverse pieces. The 1/2 shift sleeve. Won't know until you pull it apart. Nothing more any of us can really help you with unfortunately. Just gotta do it.

 

So I need to pull apart my motor first? What exactly will I be looking for? Im not too sure of myself on the transmissions. I havent really worked with transmissions yet

 

Don't need to pull the motor apart; just need to remove the transmission from the motor, then crack the transmission casings open.

Before you try that, have a look at the B-Series Trans tutorial I made in this section of the forum. It'll be on page 1 or 2. But it is definitely in the FAQ/Links. Read over that and see if you'll be comfortable working with one. If not, give the transmission to someone else so they can help you out.

 

Thanks Bull, I appreciate it a lot. I'll definitely take a look at it. So once I crack open the case what should I be looking for? anything in general? I'm pretty new to transmissions.
