Default Need Help

I have a 1996 Honda Civic Ex and we were gonna pull the transmission to install a new clutch, but when we started to hook all the wires back up, it wouldnt start. We sprayed some throttle body cleaner into the intake manifold and it wanted to start. I was told that my fuel pump could be bad. When I'm driving it sometimes boggs out, like its not getting fuel at times? So I guess what I'm asking is, what could be my problem as to why it wont start?
