Lay shaft and driveshaft seals, HELP
This is on a 1998 UK spec EK3 Hatch with a B18C4 swap and S9B Gearbox/Transmission
So I have replaced my driveshafts and in the process decided to change my drive shaft seals. To do this I had to remove the lay shaft. I removed the lay shaft and fitted the new seal. Now when I fit the lay shaft back in I have 15mm or so of shiny metal exposed from the gearbox/tranny. But the bracket fits perfectly and im sure the shaft hasnt moved relative to the bracket. Does anybody have any ideas?

You probably over drove the seal, the seal should sit flush on the transmission housing. Did you test fit the seal around the lay shaft to make sure it had the proper tension on the shaft?
I would pull it out and replace it again if you overdrove the seal. Use grease on the inside lip of the seal to keep it from burning up and leaking out of the box.
