Default k20a2 tranny problem....help

I bought an ej6 with a k20a2 swap last week. the guy said he had trouble getting it into 6th gear most of the time but after looking over it the past few days. From what i have noticed, when im sitting still w the car started or not, it goes into every gear very easily, but while driving it wont go into 6th at all. No grinds just wont go in, also 5 gear seams to be way further to the right and is notchy while driving than when at idle, as wierd as that sounds. Any help is appreciated. thanks

it could be the shift change mechanism thing. how are the shifter cables?
this isn't a clutch problem.
I have only fixed 1 k-series trans so im not too familiar but its likely shifter related the internals are pretty good.
also check for the condition of the shifter box inside the car

Im sure there was an thread about the k series transmission engagment being different on k20a.org. But anywho if 5th is notchy and a little out of place than I would assume that 6th is also out of place so your just gonna have to put a little pressure on it, play with it and try to find it.

Shifter cables look perfect. shifter box looks good to inside the car. but the guy says it got like that over time. he used to be able to get into 6 gear.
