It's probably a worn synchro and sleeve on 3rd gear.

A clutch problem will normally cause shift issues in all gears. The synchronizer acts as the breaks for each gear synchronizing the gear RPM to the shaft and allowing the sleeve to lock it in. If the synchro is not working well due to being worn, the engagement teeth on the gear will clash with the sleeve and round the teeth. Shifting with worn engagement teeth is like cutting with a dull knife. You won't know for sure until the transmission is fully inspected but it sounds like a rebuild is in your near future.
