help with T2T4 trans mated to a F20B
This motor and trans have been transplanted into a 96 civic hatch. I'm told the transmission is out of a 2000 prelude.
Transmission has lost reverse.
Question 1) When I called around looking for a replacement I was asked if it was a 'BASE' or an 'SH' - how do I find out?
Question 2) If we rebuild, are there any special tools that a non-honda tech would need? Tech is an ASE master, but has not worked on honda much.
Question 3) what else should be done to the trans while it is out?
thanks!

1) I can say it's a Base model. SH transmission will only fit on an SH engine. Base model doesn't have the ATTS that the SH model has.
2). If you look at the helms manual. It will tell you all the parts you will need. There is a rebuild guide on Preludezone.com
3) Rear main seal, cleaning the transmission housing, synchros, LSD (if you have one ), clear the engine bay as much as you can since you will have more space now, replace the clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing, etc. Look at the pieces you have taken off and see if they need replacing, etc.

This transmission is out of an 98-01 Accord SiR. Not available to the US market. The internals other than the gearing and LSD(has a viscous type in T2T4) will be the same as an M2B4 which is the H22 97-01 Prelude Base model transmission.
