Default Gsr lsd?

After researching for some time and getting different answers I figured I should come here with my question. I am interested in installing a LSD in my GSR/S80 transmission. Since I am on a budget I am mainly interested in an OEM part. Ive asked numerous people and have been told on a few occasions tha a LSD out of a B16/ITR unit can in fact be used in a GSR transmission. So now I bring this question to you, the informed public. What OEM LSD options am I able to install into my GSR transmission and what are some things I should look for?

Thanks in advance,
-Jeff.

Type R LSD would be easiest. you'll be able to utilize your final drive ring gear. if you have tapered roller bearings on your stock diff or the lsd unit, try and get the ball bearings. if your case isn't set up for ball bearings, you'll need to set it up with the appropriate bearing shim in the gearhousing.

The ITR Torsen unit will fit fine and is your best oem option. If you use the B16 Viscous unit, you will also need to change your ring gear.

Check this thread for information on the ITR LSD installation. It also discussed the ball bearings.

I'm upgrading my s80 diff, if your interested in buying my stock send me a pm with an offer. you'll just have to wait for the ring gear to get back from the treatment

the worst part about the GSR gearset is the 1-2 drop. you don't have this with the b16 gears. after driving around on a GSR box for a few months i switched over to an ITR trans. the LSD is a major upgrade in traction but the gearing is also better for my engine. much easier to keep it in the powerband.

Thats what I have been contemplating. I want something that I can take on a road course every now and again and still be able to manage in city driving. Ive been debating on just purchasing a JDM ITR transmission and sell my S80.

ITR/B16 lsd would be your options. I have an ITR lsd with new bearings if you're interested.
