Default CVT Trans Problems

I have a 97 honda civic HX, auto CVT. 100% stock.

A few days ago the car would not go over 3k rpms, then this morning it jumped and would not go under 5k rpms. The gear indicator on the dash started flashing green around the "D", and the CEL came one.

After Shutting off the car and restarting, the green flashing was gone but the CEL persisted. There was also a whine/humming noise whenever I went into drive or reverse. Again could not go over 3k rpms.

CEL codes are as follow:
P0700 - Automatic Transmission Control System
P1890 - Shift Control System

Anyone have any experience with this problem, or can direct me on what my next course of action should be?

Default Re: CVT Trans Problems

We didn't get HXs or the funky CVT transmission that came in them here in Canada but they were basically junk. It's apparently very hard to find a good used one due to their high failure rate.
