Default Clutch completely changed feel...

98+ JDM ITR transmission
Exedy Stage 2: 3 puck cerametallic clutch
Exedy 9.5LB chromoloy flywheel
Maybe 15,000 miles on the setup...

Here's the problem, the clutch suddenly changed feel. Normally it was a firmer pedal and it would grab to where if you revved the car any less than 1500RPM chances are it is bucking hard or you try to ride it so it doesn't stall. Typical puck clutch feel. Well last night I was being a bit of a jack *** and let it ride to around 90MPH spinning the tires then I just let off and cruised.

Now the pedal is softer, it doesn't fall to the floor or have play, but it doesn't feel as tight. The clutch is smoother with engagement, plain and simple it feels like a damn street disc. Shifts smooth as butter and taking off is like cake. There are no noises, smells, grinds, if you step on it there is no slipping. Obviously something is up with that. HELP!

Sounds like a big cause for concern...

Or maybe the clutch is just getting broken in.

After 15,000 miles and several passes down the 1/4 I doubt it is just breaking in. I broke the clutch in exactly to Exedy procedure, 750 miles of babying it. I'm wondering if the pads are low or on their way out.

Wouldn't that make a lot of noise though? It definitely isn't grabbing hard enough and the car does feel more sluggish. I went for a spirited drive tonight and it would always bark loud into 3rd gear whether it was an upshift or downshift. Now it is just lazy like when my TODA Racing needed to be replaced. Is aggressive driving mixed with aggressive material normal to be wearing out parts this fast? It has been just over a year and 15,000 miles since I put the clutch in.

I'm going to start with a new clutch master and slave cylinder. Regardless if that solves it or not it is still the oldest part left on the car with 150,000 miles. Hopefully it is just something with the hydraulics and adjustment. Thoughts on Autozone vs Honda for the master and slave?

OEM/nissin for the master cylinder, sometimes you can find them on ebay. OEM/Adler for ther slave cylinder.

Yeah with my first reply I didn't realize you already had 15000mi on the clutch.

Anyway, good idea with replacing both of those at 150K. I got a clutch MC from Advance Auto Parts for my Maxima that only lasted just over a year (about 8K mi.). They did replace it for free even though it was past the 1 yr warranty by a month or 2. A clutch MC should last alot longer than that though.

Well if OEM it is then I am looking at about $150. Which is cheap considering I am at 150k miles with the original stuff. Been through like 3 swaps and 2 cars and never changed them lol.

Are you talking about the clutch or the tires? I hope your tires don't bark when downshifting...

Yes the tires bark on a downshift. Not if you just let it out but if you let it out quick and on the gas to go.
