Broken Diff or Broken Axle
I have an EG sedan im reparing as a project car
The you can see the spindle in the tranny spinning on the passangers side when the car is in gear and in neutral but it stops when the clutch is in, but if the axle and wheel are on the wheel won't move.
On the drivers side the wheel doesn't move either.
Im just confused on why the spindle would be moving if the diff was smashed.

say wha? if you dont have limited slip in your tranny only 1 wheel will spin(when its jacked up) if you have an lsd both wheels will spin when you try to spin a wheel. take the axle out and hold the very end. have a friend try to turn it out of your hand from the other end..if it spins..its broke inside(if its broke you should hear rattiling inside of broken parts)
what i was trying to say was the spline in the transmission where the axle usually goes into (the part that spins the axle) it spins all the time when the car is running in gear and in neutral. it only stops when the clutch is in. Is it supposed to do this?
yes. its ok. to make sure you gotta get the wheels on and get down the road to test it

axle. differentials dont ever brake like that unless your like my friend down the street and tried to get 20lbs of boost out of a D series and blew up the differential trying to launch.
