Default B-Series diff question

ok so i have two diff here one from my s80 ls tranny an another from what the seller so called a ys1 with LSD. now the question is both final gears have 64 teeth the s80 has 2 notches on the ends of the teeth but the lsd doesn't have any notches. so could i still put the lsd an the final drive in my tranny? (of course with a lil grinding on the case)

Keep the FD (ring gear and countershaft) matched.

Do both of the final drive gears have the same bolt pattern or does the YS-1 have a factory viscous type LSD that has a different bolt pattern? If it does have a different bolt pattern..than no you cannot. If it has an aftermarket LSD that uses the same bolt pattern then you can swap them as a MATCHED SET. Let us know what you have.

Unfortunately the LS final drive will not work with that LSD =( What ratio is that LSD ring and pinion?? If so why not use the LS S80 gearing with the LSD ring and pinion?? I am guessing the YS-1 you pulled that LSD is a short geared YS-1??

If the ring gear on the viscous LSD has 64 teeth then it is not from a YS1 since the YS1 OEM LSD only came with a 66 tooth ring gear. It is probably from a Y1 earlier model. The Y1 countershaft has different splines and will not fit with the YS1 gears. The tic marks on the tooth face are the marks from Honda used to ID the gears. The ring gear must be used with the matching countershaft so unfortunately it will not work. Post some pics of the countershafts and I will let you know for sure.

^^This is a Y1 viscous LSD and will not work in a YS1 transmission.
