Recently picked up a hatch w/a b16 swap. Noticed the boot is missing by the slave cylinder. Would it be okay without it or do i need one?

note: transmission was purchased from honda so no vin.

If you want rain and road debris blasting into the area where your clutch and flywheel live, then yes it's fine.

The road debris replenishes the friction material and the rain washes out the dust. win-win!
