Default ZC vs B16a

Okay, my original plan for a swap into my 91 Civic Si was a B16a. After doing some research (and shelling out more money than expected for a paint job and other misc stuff) the ZC motor is starting to look pretty good. I am told that I can use my Si tranny with the ZC, and the ZC just bolts right up in the factory location, saving about $1000 on tranny and mounts. My question is this: How good is an all-motor ZC vs all-motor b16? I REALLY want vtec under the hood, but I wouldnt be able to build the inside of the B right away like I would a ZC. I know that a lot of people force induct ZC's, but how about going all motor? Help...i cant decide!!

You need to get d16y7 head. It will raise comperssion higher than a zc and everything esle from your engine fits. Just get an FPR to raise the pressure a little.

if you're considering ZC, also consider the SOHC VTEC instead. Same power, better aftermarket.

An NA ZC won't even begin to compare to an NA B16, that's the B16's bread and butter. In a very light car especially, the B16 can really shine. But speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?

Ps- The B16 also takes extremely well to turbo setups, 10-12 psi on stock internals is reliable with proper tuning and proper driving technique.

zc built with dual weber or mikuni's would surprise a lot of b series motors.
