Default zc/d compatability

ok I dont really know where this question is relevent so here it is. I have found an engine for sale that is labeled as a 96-00 sohc vtec zc. Does this engine exist (i didnt think they made them in 96-00) and will it work with a d trans? It looks very close to a d16y8 and that is the engine I'm trying to find a replacement for.
Thanks for any help you can offer

The JDM SOHC VTEC ZC motors were similar to the D16z6. If it was made during the Y8 series run then it certainly could just be the JDM version of a Y8. There is some good info on Wikipedia regarding all the different variants.

I checked wiki but they just say which d motors the zc is "similar" to. Anyone think that a 96-00 sohc zc could replace a y8?
