Yuhp , another noisy valvetrain question ( updated... )
Alright , I know everyones sick of this **** being posted but not as much as I'm sick of dealing with this problem
. This is a update this link https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=295937 that I previously posted about 3 - 4 weeks ago.
Ok I got my car back from Acura that day , they DID adjust the valves - not much but they did. Per the link above I had stated that the timing gears had looked off ( 1 tooth ) from the 3 previous valve adjustments that I had performed. On the work order they stated that the timing was correct
. When they brought it around to the front of the service center I stuck my head up to each front fender well and still heard a little ticking , noticed the temp was warm and then left. I was told that the master tech that I mention in the link worked on it him self and typed up " no unusall valve noise " so I figured well if they say so
.
Drove home , went about my buisness glad that they - oh yeah , didn't charge me for one thing , wrote it off on the warrenty - so I figured I had a loud car
.
Well its been like I said 3 weeks later & I'm driving it home and ever since then I still have it in my head that theres something wrong with my valves so what the hell I go behind a closed grocery store get up against the long concret wall to listen. At first around 800 - 1k I notice really what I've always heard - a little ticking but when I reached 1.5k a VERY noticable ticking was there went onto 2k+ and really no more noise. I've noticed this before when I accel decent hard , anywhere from 1.5k - 3k theres a very quiet tapping , its hard to hear due to the wind and with the window closed I can't hear it at all. Just slowly driving around I can hear this noise at 1.5k , reflecting off anything close to my car. I'm going to atemp to losen the timing belt and aline the crank/cams at TDC when I get a new torque wrench next week but thought maybe any of you would have an idea ? I have not done a comprestion test nor a leakdown yet for a possible bent valve(s) but the idles fine and really the only simptom for a bent valve would be the ticking. After I aline the cam sprocks back I will again do a valve adjustment with the correct cam alinement.
Cliffs :: I have a noticable valve noise at 1.5k even when not on a load ( sitting still ) and really ONLY at 1.5k until I accel hard then it quietly continues to 3 - 3.3k .
Thanks everyone - I just want to get this thing running fine before I sink any $$ into it !

I'm thinking after I correct the cam sprockets & adjust the valves maybe should I retard the timing if the problem is still there ? damn all I can do is think about this , damn anoying !
