Yet another exhaust thread, with contenders.
I know there is plenty of information already on the forums, i have been reading it for a while and even the official FAQ for the exhaust thread, but this thread aims to something a bit different.
I need to buy a full/catback exhaust system, to be Paired with the Toda Style 4-2-1 header on my Civic B16a2 engine, it currently also has a sk2 pro intake with a 70mm throttle body. so of course, exhaust is next.
We are aiming for no more than 400-500usd for the whole system, and looking for a 60mm piping (2.25" or so) as this is a NA build and will remain the same, and we want to focus on performance, not sound, but decent quality is also required.
What would you choose or use, and why? any feedback is appreciated as it will help me make my decision.
Please bear in mind we are aiming for performance, not sound, but we yet don't want a loud car just for the sake of sound, as quiet as possible.

- Tanabe T70017 Medalion Touring Cat-Back Exhaust System
This is so far my first and current option, looks like the quality is #1 and the performance is good.
Amazon.com: Tanabe T70017 Medalion Touring Cat-Back Exhaust System for Honda Civic Coupe/Sedan EX/SI Coupe 1996-2000: Automotive
And it is not as expensive as i tough it was.
- Skunk MegaPower Exhaust System
413-05-2000 - MegaPower Exhausts (60mm) - Exhausts - Exhaust - Skunk2 Store
This seems to be the most common option used and looks decent, but I am a bit worried about the sound and the muffler dimensions, even with the silencer? i also read it is a bit overpriced for the product.
- Greedy Evo / Evo II
This seems to be like the 1st choice, but apparently it is a discontinued product and not longer for sale, at least thats what the Greedy website states.
And they do not currently have any product available for the Civic 96-00 sedans, its all TBD ???
- Apexi N1
I heard a lot from them but honestly i didnt found any store that sells their product nor the price (brand new) nor if it comes with the whole piping of its just the muffler.
Basically, no idea what to expect here, need more feedback
- Magnaflow
Should i ever consider any of their options????

Greddy and Apexi haven't been new on the market for years now. I ran Apexi on my Nissans back in the day. Skunk exhaust is overpriced, just pay a bit more and spring for HKS..
Magnaflow has been a trusted name in exhaust tech since long before the United States decided to fix up their imports, I wouldn't steer away from them so quickly.
The best option will always be most expensive, but the most expensive isn't always your best choice. I have bought "top shelf" parts that turned out crappy.. It's all about what you want to do and your budget. Everybody seems to look at name brand stuff only. Don't forget to give the off-brands a look. I spent less than 200 bucks for a full exhaust (header, test pipe, resonator, cat-back, muffler). Header is 1.75 or 2" primaries; 4-2-1. all the rest is 2.75 stainless steel goodness. Sounds mean as hell at about 4k rpm, but quiet enough at idle to let sleeping babies sleep.
The setup I got was from Amazon, Spec-D. Fitment was perfect, price was beautiful, install was a snap.

txdragon, thanks for the reply, good to know about Apexi and Greddy, too bad they don't still sell these products.
You are right, price and off the shelf isnt always the better, I agree, but in this particular case i already have the header, and want the rest of the exhaust already "ready to install" without need to weld nor heat/bend anything, so i went for a product like these, of course ~200 usd solutions aren't out of the equation, but i haven't seen any that is overall with good ratings (performance wise).
I was kind afraid of going more than 2.50" for the pipes, isnt that too much for a NA engine? at least a B16?
I will also check HKS and see what they got, hope to get some more feedback from others, this forum is huge and thats the good part !

Agreed, but as i stated on the initial post, we are anywhere near that, we are with a stock NA engine with barely a sk2 intake and 70mm manifold and a Toda Style 421 Header, thats why I asked him if 2.75 wasnt too much, or why i was afraid of going

I installed an HKS SS ceramic coated cat back on my 94 Integra replacing the 5Zigen the difference was amazing, a little pricy but I think it was worth it. 94
And IMO Tanabe is right up your alley, nice quality, low pitched sound, and affordable. My friend has one and loves it, similar to the apexi ws2 sound.
2.25" is adequate for low boost settings, and ideal for where you are now. this yonaka is 2.5".
Your guys are really making me start to consider the Yonaka choice, to be honest I never heard of them but the product looks decent, and the description is similar
The only difference I can see is that Yonaka promises a 2.5" pipe while Tanabe is 60mm (2.3inches)
On the other hand, Yonaka has it already in coated black which might be in theory a bit better... Plus, its half the price, and light, at least the package, 39lbs Vs. 43lbs

The tip seems to come out from the middle of the muffler (vertically speaking) instead from the bottom to allow the muffler to go up a bit... I was expecting that.
It does look amazing, but doesn't the muffler show off a bit much? i was expecting to be more "hidden" and only show the tip, but maybe in the 4Dr. Sedan its different ..., did you have any ground clearance issue?

I'm going to get a Yonaka 2.5" catback exhaust system (maybe tanabe, but i doubt due price difference) and i also want to remove the cat. (thank god my country allows it) so i am going to get a PLM 2.5" testpipe (seems good choice)
Question 1:will it fit on my stock oem 421 header or do i need to get something else?
Question 2: Do i need to get a 4 way adjustable one or a 3 way will do? not sure the differences:
PLM 2 5" 4 Way Adjustable Test Pipe Integra Civic CRX Del Sol Da DC EF EG EK New | eBay
PLM 2 5" Telescopic 4 Pcs Test Pipe 88 00 Civic 90 01 Integra w All Hardware | eBay
There is a big price difference so i need to know which one is needed, at some point the header will be switched with a Toda Style from PLM as well
Car is a Civic 1998 EK4 4 door sedan, B16a2 with stock header.

i don't dig adjustable test pipes, for obvious failure point issues. your best bet is to have an exhaust shop fab something up. will probably cost less as well. as to the muffler showing, it shows much less on the 2/4 dr
Oh yeah it bolts right up. You may need to get a piece made for the o2 sensor if it's obd1. I have personally ran the stock 421 piping with my obx racing test pipe and over sized catback. At 2.25 however, and I had to do some heat sheild tweaking for my os exhaust and short shifter being too close. Also had to tweak the mounts a bit so I wasn't rubbing my heat sheild by the gas tank. Only a finger width between the heat sheild and the pipe! It's a tight fit!
