Default Y80/LSD/rebuilt....

I got me for a good deal a Y80 that I can see threw the diff without interference... So it should have a LSD. However I know the tranny is suppose to have problems shifting in 3rd and 4rth it was on a turbo GSR.

I am trying to make a damage assesment before sending it to my tranny guy to get a better estimate of the costs.

I was thinking 3-4rth gear synchro, probably the forks. Are gears something I should look into getting changed also or is it something I'll know when opening it up?

Anyway to check the LSD while it's out also for wear?

thanks!

If both 3rd and 4th, I would suspect the fork. Probably damaged one of the gears and forced it in, bending the fork. I'm not sure you can get parts from anyone other than Honda. What is the trans for? There are aftermarket close ratio gears, if you are replacing them anyway.

I will most likely rebuilt with OEM parts

The tranny/car will be used for all out daily driving/a little of drag/auto-X/ect...

I figure taking it apart is free. See what the parts to fix it are and compare to buying a better one. Plus you can see what LS it has, factory, quaife, clutch type. So long as you have the skill to take it apart and tell what parts are bad, it's only your time. Plus any other used one could also have hidden problems.
