Y8, Input Shaft Bearing and casing. Part#?
So i get my order my dreaded ISB and get the shroud for it too.......Pick it up from the dealer and be on my merry way. Get home, and the casing is smaller than the bearing itself.
ANyone have the P/N for the bearing and casing so i can doublecheck so i'm not left with a down car, cracked open tranny, and no parts!
Thanks!

The input shaft bearing is not easily replaced with a non-OEM bearing. It's an angular bearing, very different from the standard radial bearing (such as the two that support the differential).
The only bearings I'd buy at a bearing shop are differential bearings. Replacing the angular bearings is more risky because you need to find a replacement with the same angle of axial dispersion. Stick with NTN, or Timken which makes comparable bearings.

OK, by shroud, i mean that oil seal. I was told it was plastic and wasn't sure the name of it....
On that site, it's listed as #4 and #7
I got that same drawing from Honda with the numbers 9 and 14.
The part numbers are quite different than Hondas though. ISB is #91002-PSO-003 and the seal that I got is #91216-PL3-005
The seal is about the size(diam.) of the inner circle of the ISB, which the drawing shows that seal being bigger than the bearing itself. So i was wondering if someone had the Honda part #.
As for replacing it from the old one....i'm gathering the parts before i do it. I know it needs done. The tranny is "growlin" like crazy lol. Hopefully i'll get a min to call/stop at Honda and straighten it out.
Thanks though.

You can get the exact same bearing Honda uses at any bearing dealer, trust me, I have done it. The only way you couldn't get the bearing, is if the bearing is now obsolete. Honda doesn't manufacture bearings.

Really, and you're sure you got the right one? You know the exact radial contact area inside the OEM bearing? I already said it's not a good idea. There are a million and one different types of angular contact bearings, and you don't know the ratio of radial to axial load dispersion inside the OEM unit.
Of course, this only applies to certain transmissions. Not all transmissions use angular ISB's. The y8 does for sure, the y7 doesn't. If your particular transmission uses a dedicated radial bearing, the situation is different and you can replace it with a comparable one from a different manufacturer. You can see I replaced my radial diff bearings in this fashion: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1737770

I'm not talking about cross referencing bearings. I took the bearing make and part# to a bearing place to get a new bearing. They gave me the exact same bearing that I had. I'll say it again, Honda does not make bearings. There is nothing special about them.
