WTF is wrong with my engine??? Vid Inside
not sure whats wrong, im in college, so my bro sent me this vid.
http://www.cae.wisc.edu/~dxiong/accord.WMV
someone told me it might be a rod bearing, or a motor mount, so i had my brother rev the engine to 6k and he said it stopped making that noise in vid #1, so here's vid #2

After watching both videos, there could be many things that could be making that noise. The rod bearing could be possible but thats one of many. If it was a motor mount you usually it wouldn't stop after an engine rev like that. It most likely is something of a metalic origin cause you say it stops after you rev the engine. Was the car warmed up to operating temp when the second film was done? Need more info. Does the car still make the power that it should through normal or hard acceleration? Has the engine had anything done to it internally ever? What type of engine is it exactly? I know you probably have done this already but there is suffecient oil in the engine?

The first video, the car was still semi cold. In the second video the car was warmed up. My brother has not driven the car, so i'm not sure about the power. Nothing internally has been modified to the engine. It's a 91 accord f22a1 engine. the only mods on it are intake and an EX 4-2-1 manifold which is still OEM. The oil level is good. Not really sure where this noise is comin from.

The first thing you need to do is check the oil! Drain oil into a clean oil pan, then pour oil into another oil pan... Observe the bottom of the clean oil pan. Do you see metal? copper? Stick a magnet in the oil pan and observe the metal that sticks to the magnet.
If you have no bearing material in the oil you should be Okay.
If not... There is another possiblity...
Is the sound coming from the transmission? I've seen clutches fall apart and make a lot of noise, sometimes they even sound like a rod bearing.
Your first step would be to analyze the oil first.

If its not a clutch problem though it might be various other metal obejects as well. How long has this been doing this? When it started was it always as bad or has the problem slowly gotten worse? Have you done a compression check?

Is there oil in the spark plug holes?
Is there oil in the spark plug holes?
Its an auto tranny. I will have my brother drain the oil tomorrow. Compression was checked and it was 180, 180, 180, 185. I did have oil on my spark plugs on the threads, but this was before the noise from the engine happened. I did replace the O-rings between the valve cover and spark plug hole to stop the oil from entering the threads.

Good luck with the oil, I hope your bearings are healthy!
