Default WTF....

Ok just recently installed all of the following on my D16Y7, yeah I know complete idiot for building up a all motor single cam....

- Skunk 2 Intake Manifold
- Hondata Intake Manifold Gasket
- CTR Throttle Body
- CTR Injectors
- Generic Short Ram (for the time being)
- B&M Fuel Pressure Regulator, and Gauge
- Frog Engine Controls OBD2B to OBD1 ECU Jumper
- OBD1 1.5L SOHC non VTEC ECU

Now all codes have been delt with, idles normal, and yet the car still runs like complete ***. However for some reason it hasn't gotten rid of the main issue we're having. For some odd reason whenever driving the car sometimes, not all, feels extremely sluggish, kind of as if its going to backfire, but doesn't 9 times out of 10. Any opinions guys?

are the spark plug wires on in the right order?
How old are the spark plug wires?
Try using the stock injectors to see if the problem lays in the CTR injectors you are using.

Spark Plug wires are original. And the car is just rolling over on 58,000 kms. It did the exact same thing with the OE Injectors, and I've been told by numours people, which was hard to believe, that the D16Y7 uses smaller Injectors (180cc).

The other modifications the vehicle is running are the following.... (posted for more assistance)

- DC Sports 4-2-1 Brushed Stainless Steel Header
- T1R Racing Convertor
- T1R Sports B Pipe
- T1R Sports Muffler

I was told to do the following on another discussion board

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by phunhaus &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Well at 40psi you're running it a little high (not much but a little) that coupled with larger injectors may cause stumbling.

For diagnostics, lower your fuel pressure to 34psi at idle and check the TPS voltage at close and WOT. Go through all the vacuum ports and make sure they're connected or plugged and make sure the maifold is torqued down appropriately. Sometimes the Hondata gasket needs to be retorqued after an initial run or two.

Hopefully with slightly less fuel pressure it will run better, but if these are larger injectors (and the ECU is meant for smaller ones) it may be throwing too much fuel per each injector pulse. I dunno. Sounds like it's rich, but not too rich to throw a code. Or, if the ECU is chipped, it may be concealing the CEL. Sometimes chipped ECU's don't throw codes when there is a problem, sometimes they do...</TD></TR></TABLE>

I Ajusted the fuel pressure to 34, no real change in idle, or ride unfortunatly, and the smell of gas is still there. Also checked each bolt on the intake manifold, as well as all vaccum lines, everything is a o k on that end. I'm starting to wonder if this definatly an air fuel problem. As it really gets bad whenever you give it gas, and open the throttle up more. However if your not on the gas, and your slightly on the throttle, the car runs smoothly. It idles at around 500rpm, and will come up a little to about 1,000, and drop back down. However when you first start the vehicle it does idle at around 1,500rpm, and bounce a little. Since adjusting the fuel pressure to 34, it has gotten abit better. It only seems to want to "bog", or become "sluggish" when you try to give it gas, and open it up abit. Still smells of gas however, and at idle now it will back fire.

Any more help?

ok so correct me if i'm wrong but aren't CTR injectors going to be like 310 CC? or something.. im not sure but I bet they are a decent size bigger than you 1.5 non vtec sohc injectors and if you don't tune out the extra fuel than it's going to be a problem..

I would suggest that you take the car for a spin, pull into your house and pull the spark plugs and see what they look like, if they are wet and smell like gas, than you know what the problem is. If they have white specks or whatever than probably it's not getting enough fuel and detonating.. thats my suggestion.

EDIT* after re-reading your post it definately sounds like too much fuel and your spark plugs are getting fouled, i would check them up, might need to be cleaned or replaced... good luck and let me know if I helped..

Well the car's a 1.6L D16Y7. We're running the 1.5L OBD1 ECU as I would like to eventually run a chipped ECU (when I get the VTEC Head). Not only that, but this solved the secondary o2 sensor issue, as well as the 3 prong IACV to 2 prong IACV on the CTR throttle body, so it solved quite a few codes. The D16Y7 injectors are apparently 180cc, so that's why we started using the CTRs 240cc, as with the 1.5 ECU the vehicles suppose to be running quite lean. I will definatly check that out, I'm assuming its still running rich, as I can smell the gas.

Exactly - a 1.5l ECU on a 1.6l motor?? This would be my guess too.
