Hey boys & girls... i've been a long time member here, but inactive lately...

A week ago, my girlfriend bought an 03 RSX, Non Type S... Check Engine light came on for a misfire as soon as we got it... Took it back to the dealer, they looked at it and then sent it to acura... 3 days later, acura diagnoses it as a worn exhaust cam. They are fixing it under warranty, but it has me worried..

The only time it would throw a Check Engine Light is in higher RPM's/Heavier Throttle... Which leads me to believe it would be the vtec lobe that is worn.

I found information on this car, and it was literally one owner, little old lady, very well taken care of... Traded in for a brand new car. Had 60k on the nail.. So I am just wondering... Has anybody had similar experiences with this? Is there a certain cause? Any other related failures?

I seem to remember my ex wife mumbling about something similar happening on her 03 CRV, but she's my ex wife, so I never listen to her anyways...

Can anybody shed some light on this subject for me? I know B Series motors, but not much at all about K Series... Been out of the honda game for quite a few years now...

 

bump... anybody? Now acura says the car is waiting on a "rocker tube" from japan... i'm calling BS... The rocker comes as an assembly, and i find it hard to believe that there are NO rockers in the US.
