Wiring question??
Hey i'm doing a complete swap from my 89' crx dx motor to a b16a1. I am looking to pick up a CRX SI wiring harness and convert that instead of the DX harness. I was wondering if it matters what Year CRX SI harness(88-91) I should use if i'm doing a complete swap.
They're all the same... When I did my friend Mike's (jdmDXrex) original B16A swap in his '88 Rex about a year ago I just rewired the DX harness to MPI... It really isn't that bad and you're going to have to open up the Si harness to add VTEC, VTM, and KS anyways (this is if you are picky about wiring)... Some people just run new wires out but I totally unloom the entire interior and motor loom then rework them both for DOHC VTEC... On the interior unless you get that harness you'll have to add the wires that it doesn't have, CYP, VTEC, VTM, KS, then also separate out all the injectors (DPI "Y's" them together and if my memory serves me correct it'll be 1-2, and 3-4 but I could be wrong) Anyways since then I've rewired the harness 4 times making it look a little bit cleaner each time... When the B16 blew up we just swapped a GSR in and I cleaned it up, then he got a new head so I put OBD2 injector/distributor plugs on and made an OBD1 jumper... We just built his motor so I'm still workin on it for what is hopefully the last time, now it has all OBD2 connectors excluding the nonOBD/OBD1 alternator plug... haha I'm weird but yea... If you have any other questions let me know... Peace
