which wire to distributor for shift light? (b18c)
anyone know which wire to tap on the distributor for a GSR? this is the signal wire for the shift light just in case u folks didn't know what i was talking about.
TIA
Blue Wire by distributor...My Advice is Tap it off the Gauge CLuster.
Otherwise you gotta run a wire in the engine bay. Like I did, and its ghetto. I'm re-doing it in the spring.

gauge cluster eh? which wire would that be off of the gauge cluster?
i already have the wire through the firewall already and the gauge cluster is a bitch to take out sometimes, so i think i'm just going with the distributor wire. um, this is the thicker wire off of the distributor right?

What year/model car?
Look by the drivers side wiring harness in the engine bay. You'll see a lone blue wire/plug not connected to anything. Cut the plug off and wire it to your tach.
The wire is the factory service connector for RPM signal.

hey. I have a stock 1999 Civix Ex. I looked under my hood the other day up near the firewall, on the righthand side of my engine bay. I noticed a lone blue wire, not attached to anything what so ever. I was curious. Is this the wire you talk about? For a rpm tach? I have a stock engine d16y8. (no money and warranty left, so no swap).
Thanks

would be on the righthand if you are standing at the front of the car looking backwards. Drivers side is more clearer to say.
It is close to the master cylinder.

Yeah. Drivers side. There is a large gray plug, that looks as if its male and female. (like 2 plugs put together) and the lil blue wire coming off is attached to a plug that is hooked to a metal bracket. Is this a wire I can hook up to a tach?

yep. That is the factory tech connection for troubleshooting.
BTW I found this while reading a Helms on the "think station"
Simple eh????

Woah. See this is the little **** that I need to learn about! *laughs* That makes my job so much easier. You know of any other tips for hooking tachs gauges, or just stuff like "The little blue wire"? Just anything to help me in my journies. *laughs*
Thanks a lot.
Thanks a lot.
yea that blue wire near the driver side is your tach lead, i wired my shift light to that, but instead of going through my firewall, i too out my cluster found that same wire and tapped it from there, much easier and it keeps the wires shorter so everythings cleaner that way.
